The environment for displays for medical applications is very rigorous and demanding. Characteristics of a superior display in surgery centers vary quite significantly from those used in an office. US Micro Products offers an array of displays and customizations specifically designed for a variety of uses by surgeons, cardiologists, radiologists, and orthopedists, to name a few. Of particular importance today are archiving and retrieval systems for images and medical records (PACS).

From 2013 to 2017 surgical and clinical review display revenues are each expected to grow at a 9% annually, and diagnostic displays are set to increase by 5%. This is according to a report last year from NPD Display Search. The report also states that, “Technology continues to advance at a rapid pace, creating new medical imaging procedures that require sophisticated high resolution and larger display solutions,” Important growth areas are in diagnostics (half of all display users), surgery (a quarter of all users), and in radiology. Another report from the marketing firm  IHS says the world-wide market for medical displays will be $3.2 billion in revenue in 2017, up from $2.5 billion in 2012.

We offer medical display solutions that provide reliability, readability and safety. Our displays are designed to be useful and reliable in low/diffused-light conditions and in situations where contamination from touching, smears, spills and spatters is likely. The space around an operating table is at a premium and not everybody who needs it can have a close and unobstructed view. Our engineers have taken this into account and have designed displays to be viewable from wide angles and with higher resolution so fine details won’t be missed.

Where to Start?

Our displays designed for medical applications offer a range of affordable choices for customers with specific needs:

High Resolution Displays 2M pixel up to 5M pixel
High Contrast and High Brightness High contrast ratio to help resolve fine detail, contrast ratio from 600:1 to 1000:1
Brightness can be customized according to customer’s application from 250nits to 500nits or higher
Wide view angles LCD In-Plane Switching technology (IPS) to enhance viewing angle without color shift or decrease of image quality
Displays are available with a minimum of 80 degrees viewability in each direction
High Color Gamut to provide True Color 10 bits to 12 bits of color according to customer’s system configuration
AG/AR anti-reflective, evaporative coated cover glass and optical bonding to enhance readability
Ethanol agent-durable cover glass to protect display and make easy to clean
Friendly DVI connection interface. Display port can be customized.
Long lifetime of at least three years under continuous use.
50K hours of backlight life
Projected Capacitive Touchscreen technology (PCAP) Able to detect touches by an operator wearing latex gloves and if there are fluids or blood on the screen
Low power consumption for battery powered portable devices
Extended battery life due to low power backlights and displays. Design-in smallest and lightest display and backlight for weight consideration
Specialized displays for professional wearables
APPLICATIONS

TFT for Ultrasound Control Panel

Our TFTs have the high quality and long life support to meet specific medical requirements.

Portable Medical Device LCD

We have designed in displays for many portable medical devices. In each application, we take into consideration the power usage, backlighting requirements and information that needs to be displayed. By using low power backlights and displays, we are able to extend the battery life of the product. We also design in the smallest and lightest display and backlight for weight consideration. Many applications use a segment display utilizing custom icons and a numeric readout. Others require a graphic display in order to display a variety of information.

Ultrasound Imaging LCD

A standard two-line character display with backlight provides information to the operator what mode the machine is operating in.

In every respect US Micro Products' displays for medical applications are the right answer for your system. Our engineers design industry-standard products that conform to standards of practice around the world. Our reliability, readability and cost value are second-to-none in the industry. Our Display Engineers will analyze your requirements and design the best solution for your specific application. Once we design a solution, we will manufacture, do quality control and deliver a high quality display at the best value.
