In manufacturing, products have a life cycle. This is especially true in the electronics industry, where new technologies are continually being developed.

Displays typically have an average life cycle of 2 to 5 years, though some may remain available longer when designed for industrial, military, or medical applications.

Usually, about six months before a display reaches the end of production, US Micro Products sends a Last Time Buy notice. This announcement gives customers the opportunity to request a final production run before the display is discontinued.

In most cases, a new and very similar version of the display replaces the model that is going End of Life (EOL).
