Keypads
Custom keypad and input solutions engineered around tactile feel, sealing, and the environment your equipment operates in.
Keypad Engineering
A keypad is the part of your product the operator touches most. It has to feel right in the hand, survive the environment it lives in, and keep working long after the equipment has been cleaned, dropped, or run through a full shift in the field.
US Micro Products designs and sources custom keypads as part of the same engineered HMI approach we apply to displays and touch panels. We work from your panel layout, operating conditions, and volume expectations to define a construction, then manage the manufacturing through our supplier network.
Keypads are often specified alongside a display, touch panel, or trackball. Designing them together means the fit, sealing, and cabling are resolved once — as a single front-panel assembly rather than as parts that have to be reconciled later.
Tactile Feel
Key travel, actuation force, and return defined around how the operator uses the equipment.
Sealing
Gasketing and sealed constructions for fluids, dust, cleaning agents, and washdown.
Integration
Combined with displays, touch panels, and trackballs into one front-panel assembly.
Keypad Technologies
Each construction trades off tactile response, sealing, profile, and cost differently. Our engineers help select the one that fits the application rather than defaulting to a single platform.
Membrane Switch
Printed circuit layers under a graphic overlay. A low-profile, sealed construction that suits flat panels and equipment that needs frequent cleaning.
- Thin, flat profile
- Sealed front surface
- Printed graphic overlay
Silicone Rubber
Molded elastomeric keys with a defined travel and return. A common choice where tactile feedback and glove operation matter.
- Pronounced tactile travel
- Glove-friendly keys
- Molded key shapes
Metal Dome
Stainless steel domes provide a crisp, positive snap. Used when a sharp tactile response and consistent actuation feel are required.
- Crisp snap response
- Consistent actuation feel
- Works under overlays
Capacitive
Non-mechanical touch keys behind a sealed front surface. No moving parts, which suits sterile, washdown, and high-use environments.
- No moving parts
- Fully sealed front
- Flush, cleanable surface

What We Customize
Keypads are defined layer by layer. These are the decisions we work through with your team.
Backlighting
LED or fiber-optic backlighting for low-light and night-time operation, including night-vision-compatible options.
Graphic Overlays
Custom printed overlays with your legends, colors, branding, and surface texture or anti-glare finish.
Sealing
Gasketing and sealed constructions for equipment exposed to fluids, dust, cleaning agents, or washdown.
Interface & Tail
Connector type, tail routing, and pinout defined to match your PCB and enclosure layout.
Integration
Keypads combined with displays, touch panels, or trackballs into a single front-panel assembly.
Environmental
Material and adhesive selection reviewed against operating temperature, chemical exposure, and UV conditions.
Where Keypads Are Used
Every market puts a different demand on the front panel — sterilization, glove operation, vibration, or continuous public use.
